“‘Til Death Do Us Part”

Marriage is such an important thing in life. When you say your vows, you should mean them, and never break them.

Sure, a lot of people are getting divorced these days, but that doesn’t mean you have to. In fact, almost 49 percent of marriages end up in divorce in the United States. That statistic is too high.

I understand that sometimes divorce is better than staying together, such as when a spouse cheats. But I think that if you are going to marry someone, you should be 100 percent sure that you are NOT going to cheat on them, and that they are the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. Even through the tough times.

The thought of this always helps me if I think about boys other than my boyfriend. More people should think about this and just be content.

Before you get married, date the person for at least one year, just so you can be sure. After you are together for one year, there is bound to be something tough that you will have to go through together to see if you can make it as a couple or not.

Just work through your problems if you believe that they are the one you want to spend the rest of your life with.

One of my favorite quotes I like to tell my friends in new relationships is this: “Whatever is not openly expressed in a relationship becomes a subtle form of destruction.” Talk with your significant other about everything and don’t leave anything out, even if you are doubting the relationship. Tell them and see if you can work through it or if it is worth fixing.

Ways to keep the love alive:

Besides these two things, there are many other things that you can do to keep the love alive, but most importantly, keep God at the center of your relationship. Go to church together, pray together and read the Bible together.

I know that everyone has seen a couple like this before and we all want to be just like this. It wasn’t easy for this couple to get this far. I know they must have fought a lot, but they worked through it and that is what is so important.

This is actually a picture of a girl I went to high school with getting married! How special that they got married before he got moved to Germany for the military.

Now for those of you whom marriage does not apply to yet, still take note because these things will eventually apply to you and may even help you in a dating relationship now.

  1. I agree with everything you just said. When married you need to keep you commitment to God, as well as your spouse.

  2. Good insight. I completely agree with you. I love seeing an older couple who still love each other. It encourages me in a world full of so much divorce. Keeping God first is the key to having healthy relationships.
