“‘Til Death Do Us Part”

Standard

Pinned Image

Marriage is such an important thing in life. When you say your vows, you should mean them, and never break them.

Sure, a lot of people are getting divorced these days, but that doesn’t mean you have to. In fact, almost 49 percent of marriages end up in divorce in the United States. That statistic is too high.

I understand that sometimes divorce is better than staying together, such as when a spouse cheats. But I think that if you are going to marry someone, you should be 100 percent sure that you are NOT going to cheat on them, and that they are the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. Even through the tough times.

Pinned Image

The thought of this always helps me if I think about boys other than my boyfriend. More people should think about this and just be content.

Before you get married, date the person for at least one year, just so you can be sure. After you are together for one year, there is bound to be something tough that you will have to go through together to see if you can make it as a couple or not.

Just work through your problems if you believe that they are the one you want to spend the rest of your life with.

One of my favorite quotes I like to tell my friends in new relationships is this: “Whatever is not openly expressed in a relationship becomes a subtle form of destruction.” Talk with your significant other about everything and don’t leave anything out, even if you are doubting the relationship. Tell them and see if you can work through it or if it is worth fixing.

Ways to keep the love alive:

Pinned ImagePinned Image

Besides these two things, there are many other things that you can do to keep the love alive, but most importantly, keep God at the center of your relationship. Go to church together, pray together and read the Bible together.

Pinned Image

I know that everyone has seen a couple like this before and we all want to be just like this. It wasn’t easy for this couple to get this far. I know they must have fought a lot, but they worked through it and that is what is so important.

This is actually a picture of a girl I went to high school with getting married! How special that they got married before he got moved to Germany for the military.

Remember this!

Now for those of you whom marriage does not apply to yet, still take note because these things will eventually apply to you and may even help you in a dating relationship now.

“If You Liked it, Then You Shoulda Put a Ring On it”

Standard

Just yesterday at work, one of my managers told me that the cost of the engagement ring should be the man’s salary for three months. I did not know this fact; I just always thought every guy went in there and blew a lot of money on the ring.

A lot of my friends already knew this little fact, but for those of you who have never heard it before, there’s that helpful news for you.

Pinned Image

There are so many styles, colors, bands, the list goes on and on of what kind of ring to choose. Here are a few different styles to help you out.

Pinned Image

The non-matching band is a very different but beautiful look.

Pinned Image

The special touch on this one is getting the names and wedding date engraved in the rings.

Pinned Image

The unique style of this ring is beautiful.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

These are my two personal favorite rings! The one on the left is an almost exact replica of my great grandmother’s ring that I would like, except that her ring is silver instead of gold.

The one on the right may not be the traditional ring, but it is blue, and that is my absolute favorite color. Do not be afraid to do something out of the ordinary with a colored ring.

If you are torn between the two, you could get a traditional engagement ring and a colored stone ring from your husband-to-be when you exchange gifts before you get married.

Pinned Image Pinned Image

Both of these rings are antique styles; the one on the right is from the 1930’s.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

Pearls are so classy and are becoming a very popular style for engagement rings. I have several friends that have pearl engagement rings.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

These wedding rings for the groom are some new looks that you may have not seen before.

The ring on the right has the bride’s fingerprint on his ring.

 Pinned ImagePinned Image

The ring pictured on the left is another vintage style, which I think looks like a ring for a very glamorous girl, while the ring on the right is another unique style for the band, with a more modern look.

Pinned Image

For the girl whose favorite color is pink, this ring is for you!

Pinned ImagePinned Image

Both of these rings are modern stlyes that a lot of women have been getting for their engagement rings.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

If you are wondering where to start looking at these rings, or where to go to buy one, try a local jeweler or one that is well-known.

If you are in the Nashville Area, try Brentwood Jewelers or Genesis Diamonds.

Other jewelers that I recommend are Kay Jewelers or Zales, and these stores are in all of the states.

If you want to see some more rings, go to Pinterest. Take a lot at my Rings board while you are on there.

Let’s Eat Some Cake!

Standard

In today’s wedding world, there are so many options for things to eat besides the traditional wedding cake.

A friend of mine that is gettting married this summer is making small pies, for example.

This cake is awesome! It is a mix between the traditional white cake and the groom's cake.

Perfect for trying to mix in "something blue"

Cupcakes are becoming very popular to have in place of cakes, and they are much cheaper for your budget.

For those of you who cannot decide between a cake and cupcakes, here is the perfect solution!

Pinned Image

This is my personal favorite because of the pearls on it. It is so different!

This is the couple's favorite poem written on their cake. What an adorable idea! You could also do favorite verse or favorite song.

Classy but girly.

Some of the best cakes are made from bakeries. My favorite bakery is Carlos Bakery of Cake Boss.

My other favorite bakery is a local one in Murfreesboro, Tenn., called Julia’s Bakery.

Pinned Image

While bakeries are very good at making cakes, they tend to be a bit pricey.

If you are looking to cut the cost on your wedding cake, try for a baker who bakes from his or her home.

They typically charge less because they do not have to pay for employees and rent.

If you do not know any bakers that bake from home, I know two that live in Tennessee.

Brooke Broslat and Ashley Riggs are both good friends of mine and make wonderful cakes!

Whatever you decide to do, it will be special for your day!

If you answered “Something else,” what is it that you will want to do?

Say Yes to the Dress

Standard

Most people have at least heard of, if not seen, the show Say Yes to the Dress on TLC.

This show is a must watch, and I can not get enough of it. There is a Say Yes to the Dress and Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta.

The show is about the store Kleinfield, which is a high-end dress store in New York and other states. The dresses are pricey, but also very good quality.

Kleinfield is just one of the stores that you can go to to get the most important dress of your life.

If you are from the Tennessee area, I suggest the following places: Encore Bridal and Formalwear, David’s Bridal, Glitz Bridal and Bridal Country.

David’s Bridal also has stores in all 50 states!

Along with the choice of WHERE to get your gown, you also have to think about the type of style that you want!

Some questions that might be in your mind:

  • What dress would my husband-to-be like?
  • What dress would hide a certain body part that I don’t want to flaunt to everyone?
  • What is my price range?
  • Short dress or long dress?

So many questions to think about, but you have to confront them all. Although, I believe that the perfect dress is going to be so perfect, that you won’t have to question it.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

Long dresses are the traditional look, but some people now like to wear a short dress, or change into a short dress for the reception.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

These are just a few of the many different styles of dresses that you can get for your special day.

If you look on Pinterest, there are thousands of dress options that you can find! I have many of them pinned to my Wedding Dresses board just waiting for you to see.

So what stlye of dress would you like to wear?

For the boys, which style of dress would you like to see your bride in?

Being a Flower Girl is a Privilege

Standard

Being a flower girl is a privilege, no matter what age. Even as I am about to turn 19 years old, my friends and I still talk about how many times we have been a flower girl.

I have been a flower girl one time in my aunt’s wedding when I was four-years-old.

This angelic flower headband is similar to what I wore, as well as the dress, except my dress was a light mint green color.

The tutu is a new fad that a lot of flower girls have been wearing. This is just too cute!

Pinned Image

Some people like the tutu, but with fairy wings as well to have fairy flower girls.

A modern twist to the classic flower girl outfit, and still very cute!

On the left is for an older flower girl and the right is still the sweet classic flower girl look, with a cowgirl outdoorsy twist

The white dress is a very simple and typical yet cute flower girl dress, and the left is typical but bright blue!

"Here Comes the Bride" banners have become very popular for the flower girls to carry down the aisle!

This picture is a MUST with your flower girls!

There are so many good places that your flower girl can get her dress! Although Nordstrom is a little pricey, that is where a family friend got hers, and she loved it!

Among other places there is David’s Bridal, which is all over the United States or my favorite local shop in Murfreesboro, Tenn, Encore Bridal and Formalwear.

What would you have your flower girls wear for your wedding?

What You Should Do With Your Groom…(And Groomsmen)

Standard

While a lot of people think it is classy and traditional to do black tuxedos for the groom and groomsmen, those of you who want something different, you have so many options!

In this day-and-age, it is normal for a tuxedo shop to have not only black tuxedos, but also white, navy, gray and khaki.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

Pinned Image    Pinned Image

I love the black tux and white tie; I think that it is still very close to the classic look, but with a slightly different look to it.

As for the navy, it is a very handsome look that many of my guy friends’ wore for prom in high school.

Pinned ImagePinned Image

I love these unique styles!

Pinned Image Sear sucker suits are one of my favorites! They would especially look nice on the beach!

Pinned ImagePinned Image

Pinned ImagePinned Image

There are a lot of different options for boutonniere rather than the typical rose. Ask your groom if he would be willing to wear something different!

key to my heart - boutonniere This is an adorable idea. This is the grooms boutonniere, and the bride has the lock to it on her bouquet!

Pinned ImagePinned Image

Now this is different in the best interest of the groom. My boyfriend would LOVE it if I asked him to do something like this, and I know a lot of other guys that would enjoy it as well. Star Wars and super heroes are very popular among grown men just as much as young boys!

There are so many different tux shops to choose from, but not all are the best choices.

I personally have not had the best experience or greatest choices from Men’s Wearhouse.

I would look at local tux shops or even check to see if where you get your wedding dress rents tuxes.

My favorite local place is Street Tuxedo, owned by a Lipscomb alumnus. You can find locations in Nashville, Franklin and Murfreesboro. I have spoken with the owner several times, as well as his workers, and everyone is beyond friendly and willing to work with you.

So tell me, what is your favorite look?
